Overview

AdaCore needed a modern website that reflected their brand, supported multiple internal teams, and allowed them to publish quickly without relying on developers. Their previous system made simple updates difficult and kept the blog on a separate site, creating friction and fragmentation.

We designed and built a completely new website using Craft CMS to construct a unified, modular platform that gives AdaCore full editorial autonomy and long-term maintainability.

The Challenge

Years of incremental changes had left the previous site complex and difficult to evolve.

Key issues included:

  • Content was hard to edit confidently, often requiring developer assistance.
  • The blog lived on its own system, doubling maintenance and complicating SEO.
  • Page designs drifted over time, lacking a unified structure or design language.
  • Performance suffered from heavy queries and inefficient templates.
  • Multiple stakeholder groups had different needs and workflows.

AdaCore needed a fresh start on a clean foundation that could support their future.

The Solution

We built an entirely new Craft CMS site using a flexible, block-based architecture designed around clarity, efficiency, and brand consistency.

Strategy & Planning

Before any design or development began, we clarified how the site needed to work, not just how it should look. This phase focused on content structure, editorial workflows, and aligning multiple internal teams around a single, maintainable platform.

On-site meetings and workshops resulted in a plan for their ideal sitemap.

UX Architecture

We designed the site from the inside out, using wireframes to define page structures, content hierarchy, and user flows. This ensured every layout could be built from modular components and that editors would always understand what they were editing.

Wireframes help define page structures and required components.

Design System

A cohesive design system was developed to define typography, color, spacing, and component behavior across the site. Rather than designing one-off pages, the system established consistent rules that could scale as the site grew.

Applying the design system to the wireframe results in a cohesive site with established branding.

Craft CMS Implementation

We translated the design system into a flexible set of ~60 modular Craft CMS blocks. These blocks give editors creative freedom while maintaining brand consistency and technical integrity. Having editorial and design guardrails in place will prevent the drift that plagued the previous system.

Content Migration & Platform Unification

The marketing site and long-running blog were unified into a single platform. Blog content was restructured and migrated intentionally, ensuring clean formatting, modern editing tools, and long-term maintainability.

Performance & Integrations

The new site was optimized for speed and connected to AdaCore’s existing systems. Templates were tuned for performance, plugins were reduced, and integrations were implemented to support marketing, compliance, and analytics needs.

Key Highlights

  • A modular system of ~60 content blocks gives editors full control to create unique pages while keeping everything visually consistent and on-brand.
  • Clean, structured content modeling replaced ad-hoc fields and embedded markup, making the site easier to edit, safer to maintain, and simpler to evolve over time.
  • A single, unified platform now houses both the marketing site and blog, reducing maintenance overhead and improving discoverability.
  • Intentional manual migration of ~540 blog posts ensured content quality, consistency, and a clean editorial experience without carrying forward legacy issues.
  • Automated import modules keep security updates and technical data in sync without requiring manual CMS updates from AdaCore’s IT team.
  • Performance-focused templates and lean front-end code deliver faster page loads and a more reliable experience for users and editors alike.
  • Cross-team alignment across Marketing, IT, Product, and HR resulted in a platform that serves real organizational needs without unnecessary complexity.

The result is a platform that’s flexible, coherent, and ready to grow.
